Adam Sonfield

Associate Director of Policy Analysis

Adam Sonfield joined the Guttmacher Institute’s Washington, DC office in 1997 and currently serves as the Associate Director of Policy Analysis. In this role, he leads a team that shapes the Institute’s policy analysis on sexual and reproductive health and rights via Guttmacher’s policy journal (the Guttmacher Policy Review), its short-form policy analyses and other policy-related publications. Mr. Sonfield is an expert on public and private insurance coverage of contraception, abortion, maternity care and other reproductive health care services in the United States, including issues related to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act. He also focuses on religious and moral exemptions to reproductive health coverage and care. Mr. Sonfield earned an AB with honors in social studies from Harvard University and an MPP, focusing on health policy, at Georgetown University.
