Global Abortion

Legality and Safety

The Guttmacher Institute conducts research to determine the incidence of abortion at the national, regional and global levels. The Institute has developed a widely published methodology to measure the incidence of the practice in countries where abortion is restricted by law and where the majority of abortions are clandestine and likely unsafe.
