Writing about abortion? Here are 15 facts and considerations about the US Supreme Court and a potential “post-Roe world.”

2022 is shaping up to be a devastating year for abortion rights and access. Our experts continuously update this guide to state-level policies to help keep track of the latest abortion laws.

Following two decades of safe and effective use, medication abortion for the first time accounted for more than half of all US abortions in 2020.

Guttmacher experts have analyzed evidence on who would be impacted if the US Supreme Court overturns Roe, information on the legal landscape for abortion across the United States, as well as compiled policy analysis and key research.

Global

Sexual and reproductive health services are essential amid inequities and vulnerabilities exposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In much of the world, abortion is often stigmatized regardless of legal status, making it challenging to measure and document.

What's New at Guttmacher

Canada’s global support for family planning in the past year helped prevent 1.1 million unintended pregnancies and 347,000 unsafe abortions.

New estimates from Guttmacher and the HRP research programme shows worldwide decrease in unintended pregnancies.

This interactive map of the United States allows users to see the potential effects of a total abortion ban, a 15-week ban and a 20-week ban on how far people seeking abortion care would have to drive to find care.
